Aussie Growers Invited To Enter Fourth Annual Grow It Local Awards 

Are you a proud and passionate local grower? Whether you grow in a backyard, balcony, community garden, school garden or even a windowsill, you’re invited to enter the Grow It Local Awards.

Hundreds of Australian growers are once again anticipated to take part in these major national gardening awards, presented by Grow It Local and supported by Bayside Council.

The awards are a colourful community-minded celebration of creativity and fun in homegrown culture, with nine key categories:

  1. Australia’s Biggest Vegetable
  2. Homegrown Harvest Award
  3. Australia’s Best Chicken Name
  4. The ‘Why I Love My Patch’ Award
  5. The Wonkiest Vegetable Award
  6. Sustainable Gardener Award
  7. School Garden Award – growing the future
  8. Best Compost Award
  9. Regenerative Garden Award

Judges include Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis, River Cottage’s Paul West, permaculture legend Hannah Moloney, World Record-holding large veg grower Kevin Fortey, and composting coach and author Kate Flood.

All Aussie food gardeners are invited to take part. Entering is easy:

  • Post a photo on Instagram or Facebook.
  • Tag @growitlocal and use the hashtag #GrowItLocalAwards2024 in your caption, along with the award category you are entering.
  • Mention which local council area you live in.
  • Entrants also need to be a member of the Grow It Local community – registration is free at growitlocal.com!

Entries open Thursday, 1 February and close on Sunday, 31 March 2024.

Winners will be announced on 16 April 2024, with great prizes to be awarded in each category, including gardening packs from Seasol, Mr Fothergill’s and Grow It Local.
