Australians could die if Private hospitals close

Doctors Reform Society

“Vulnerable Australians suffering from the Covid 19 virus could die if private hospitals close their beds,as threatened by some private hospital groups .” warned Dr Con Costa GP and President of NSW Doctors Reform Society.

“As Doctors we call on the Morrison federal government to immediately suspend the millions of dollars used to subsidise private health insurance and give this money to state governments to compulsorily take over any private hospital that is threatening to sack nurses or close hospital beds”.Said Dr Con Costa
“Private hospitals have thousands of needed hospital beds including up to 30% of ICU beds throughout Australia and it would put at risk thousands of Australians lives if these ICU beds were closed by private hospitals some of whom may be willing to put shareholders profit before the needs of sick Australians without private health insurance”.said Dr Con Costa.
