Aviation Boom in Alice Springs

NT Government

One new airline is set touch down in Alice Springs while another expands its network as the Northern Territory’s Aviation Attraction Scheme takes full flight.

Australia’s newest budget airline, Bonza, will land in Alice Springs for the first time today providing Territorians with more choice and more competitive fares when planning their next trip to Melbourne.

The Territory Government is also announcing today, that Airnorth will provide their first ever route from Alice Springs to Perth.

Commencing on 25 March 2024, just in time for Easter and school holidays, the flight will operate three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with tickets going online from today.

It is the first time since June 2022 that Alice Springs will be connected with a non-stop air service to Perth – previously operated by Qantas.

Today’s announcements are a direct result of the recently launched Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme; which was specifically designed to improve aviation access and connectivity to the Northern Territory.

Bonza’s everyday low fares make it more affordable for residents to travel to Melbourne and connect to the East Coast and improve access for tourists wanting to visit the Red Centre.

Airnorth’s competitive prices to Perth not only provide another option west, they also leverage Perth’s role as is a key gateway to the rest of the world with over 1.3 million international travellers since July this year.
