Golden Guitar-winning singer Amber Lawrence, ARIA-winner Clare Bowditch and Bluesfest staple Kyle Lionhart are among the stars set to shine as part of this year’s Live Music Lake Mac program.
The program kicks off on Wednesday 8 March with a Warners Bay Theatre gig by veteran musician, broadcaster and author Clare Bowditch, supported by local singer-songwriter Georgie Winchester.
Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said four separate concerts would follow in April, June, July and August, at Warners Bay Theatre and Rathmines Theatre.
“Live Music Lake Mac gives music-lovers a chance to sit back and relax to the sounds of their favourite Aussie artists,” she said.
“Not only that – it also helps activate our night-time economy and creates a culturally rich and vibrant community.”
Bluesfest and Splendour in the Grass star Lionhart is set to return to Lake Mac next month with a performance on Friday 21 April at Warners Bay Theatre.
The 7 Sopranos, whose repertoire ranges from classical opera and show tunes to contemporary pop, will play at Rathmines Theatre on Thursday 8 June.
The same venue will welcome Golden Guitar Female Artist of the Year Amber Lawrence on Friday 14 July.
Rounding out the program is Tubular Bells for Two, a mix of theatre and music celebrating the 50th anniversary of the seminal Mike Oldfield album, Tubular Bells, featured in cult horror classic The Exorcist.
“It’s basically two blokes juggling more than 20 instruments at once, live on stage,” Ms Hemsley said.
“Things can go wrong at any moment, and the slightest mistake can bring the entire show crashing to a halt, so there’s an element of suspense about it.”
