We are making it easier to do business in Bayside with our updated Footpath Trading Policy, adopted at the September Council meeting.
The renewed policy simplifies seating requirements, defines roles and responsibilities, allows for seasonal and provisional permit options, addresses congestion from queuing and waiting areas, and separates the fee structure into a standalone document.
Significant consultation with traders and the community informed the policy, with a multi-staged engagement process resulting in over 1300 submissions.
Bayside Mayor, Cr Debbie Taylor-Haynes said Council wanted to improve conditions for traders to help their business and Bayside activity centres thrive and grow.
“Our activity centres are the engine room of Bayside, and we are cutting red-tape to allow traders to conduct business that benefits the whole community,” said Cr Taylor-Haynes.
“Traders have provided valuable feedback for this policy, and we are excited by the balance of utilising outdoor spaces for business while prioritising accessibility and safety.”
