Families and students in Mount Eliza and surrounding areas are set to win under a new commitment from the Victorian Liberals and Nationals to upgrade Mount Eliza Secondary College.
Mount Eliza Secondary College is one of only two public high schools in the Mornington electorate, servicing growing communities in Mount Eliza and beyond.
Most buildings at the school are now approaching 50 years old and failing to keep up with the needs of students.
Therefore, a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will support Mount Eliza Secondary College to recover and rebuild by providing an initial $2.5 million to deliver:
- The construction of a requested new modular senior students’ (flexible learning) centre.
- A comprehensive school master plan to identify, plan, design and cost a redevelopment and future infrastructure needs.
- Much-needed safety fixes at the front of the school.
Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy highlighted the importance of backing students and local communities to recover and rebuild.
“This important investment will give Mount Eliza students the facilities they need to get their education and social development back on track.”
“Backing local schools with the support they need is part of our plan to keep classrooms open and children learning face-to-face.”
Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett stated that this investment is part of a plan to support students to recover and rebuild after two years of lost face-to-face learning.
“The Liberals and Nationals have a plan to update and support local schools across the state so children who have lost so much can recover and rebuild in confidence.”
“This significant investment will deliver for current and future students and school families at Mount Eliza Secondary.”
Liberal Candidate for Mornington, Chris Crewther said the funding would be an important part of the Liberals and Nationals plan to back Mount Eliza’s local recovery.
