More than 180 passengers are set to take off this morning on Jetstar’s first flight from Perth to Bali in two years.
Taking off on an Airbus A320 aircraft, the sold-out flight marks the first time travellers in Perth can fly direct to Bali since flights were grounded in March 2020.
Since the news the island was reopening to travellers last month, demand for Bali fares from across Australia has surged to be higher than pre-covid levels, with seven times the number of bookings in March compared to the February.
A recent Jetstar sale which featured $99 fares to Bali (including from Perth) saw the highest number of bookings in a single day in more than five years.
Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans said Bali has always been the most popular international destination in Jetstar’s network, with millions of people flying to the Indonesian island every year before COVID hit.
“We are very excited to return to Bali from Perth today after two long years, and today’s sold-out inaugural flight gives us confidence that Bali will continue to be as popular with Western Australians as it was pre-pandemic.
“Before COVID, Jetstar operated up to 85 return flights per week to Bali from across Australia, carrying more than two million customers each year and contributing almost two billion Australian dollars annually to the local Balinese economy.
“We recently relaunched flights to Bali from Melbourne and Sydney, and Perth is the next step in rebuilding this important market.”
The daily return flights will depart Perth at 7:25am and arrive in Bali at 11:05am, while the return flight departs Bali at 11:50am, touching back down in Perth at 3:30pm AWST.
Flights will ramp up to twice daily from 1 June, offering 2400 seats into Bali each week.
