Best Bites 2022 award winners announced

Foxey’s Hangout in Red Hill have won gold in the Best Bites Restaurant category at the Shire’s 2022 Best Bites Food Awards! Closely followed by The Kitchen in Tootgarook winning silver and Unica Cucina E Caffe in Capel Sound and Stumpy Gully in Moorooduc both being awarded bronze.

Commonfolk Coffee Company in Mornington won gold in the Best Bites Café category, with Blue Mini in Rosebud winning silver and Two to Tango in Somerville winning bronze.

  • Ritchies Mt Eliza in Mount Eliza (silver)
  • La Casa Nostra Deli in Rosebud (bronze)

Health and Education

  • Crib Point Early Learning Centre in Crib Point (gold)

  • Tyabb Village Children’s Centre, Tyabb (joint silver)

Takeaway Outlets

  • Spudalicious in Hastings (gold)
  • The Hive Loukoumades in Rye (silver)

Farmgate

  • Mock Red Hill in Red Hill (gold)

Finalists in each of these categories were judged by an independent panel to determine the award winners.

Best Bites is a Mornington Peninsula Shire and Peninsula Health program recognising the most outstanding local food businesses in the areas of food safety, healthy eating, sustainability, reduction of tobacco/alcohol and access and inclusion.

The award winners were presented with their awards on Wednesday 5 October by Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh at Mock Red Hill.

All of the winners and nominated businesses will be featured in the Best Bites Food Guide for 2022-23, published later this year.

The online guide lists local food businesses scoring more than 95 per cent in their food safety assessment and providing excellence across one or more of the Best Bites categories.
