BHP announced today that Trinidad and Tobago Country Manager, Michael Stone, has elected to leave BHP after 19 years with the company, due to personal reasons.
Juan Manuel Vazquez has been appointed to the role of Trinidad and Tobago Country Manager, effective May 1st.
Juan has been with BHP for 14 years and has more than 20 years of oil and gas industry experience. Most recently, Juan held the position of Head of Operations for BHP’s Trion project in Mexico. Previously, Juan was General Manager and Chairman of BHP’s Midstream JV with Kinder Morgan (divested in 2018), Field Operations Manager for the Gulf of Mexico assets, Chief of Staff to BHP’s CEO in Australia, and Engineering Manager for Trinidad and Tobago.

Juan said: “I’ve spent much of my BHP career focused on operational excellence, across various assets in multiple jurisdictions to deliver improved performance results in safety, and productivity. I look forward to working again in Trinidad and Tobago and leading the business as we work alongside the local industry and community to help supply the resources the country needs.”
Michael and Juan will work closely together over the next few months (until July 30th) to assure a seamless transition.
