Hume City Council will host a weekend of activities at Sunbury’s Jackons Hill as a way to engage with community members about the Sunbury Community, Arts and Culture Precinct Project.

Have Fun on the Hill from 28 – 29 October will be a chance for the local and wider community to enjoy some fun community time while learning about Council’s plans for the heritage-listed Building 22.

It comes ahead of Council’s community consultation period regarding development of a community arts and cultural precinct at Jacksons Hill, part of the State Government’s wider plan to revitalise the area.

The partnership allows for real investment in the project that will effect real change in Sunbury, with Hume City Council’s commitment of $5.5 million backed by $3 million from the Allan Labor Government.

The weekend of free community events begins with a walk for mental health on Saturday 28 October taking participants to Building 22, which was once the Female Refractory Ward and will ultimately be the site for Stage 1 of the Hill’s revitalisation.

Musical entertainment, arts and craft activities food vans and coffee will be on offer as we take the opportunity for local people, community groups and businesses to learn more about how this iconic location will be become a thriving arts and cultural precinct.

Community events will be taking place across the weekend with all welcome to come along and help shape the future of the Sunbury Community, Arts and Culture Precinct and participate in the consultation process.

The weekend will conclude with a free Community Fun Day on Sunday 29 October.
