Rain, hail or shine Tasmanians are always eager to hit the tarmac, gravel track, or bush trails with their bikes.
BikeSpot was launched nationally in October and is Australia’s largest ever crowd-sourced bike safety project.
The project is a collaboration between the Amy Gillett Foundation and CrowdSpot, as part of the Australian Government’s Safe Roads for Safe Cycling Program.
BikeSpot is an online and interactive map that allows every Australian to say where they feel safe or unsafe while riding their bike.
We encourage those riding bicycles to go to bikespot.org, drop a pin, and share their thoughts on that specific location.
The feedback could be positive, such as the width of a bike lane or well-lit paths at night. Cyclists can also identify areas that need improvement, such as a narrow-painted bike lane, high traffic speed, cycle way road works.
The information collected by BikeSpot will be publicly available and accessible to local governments, researchers, and individuals involved in road design.
