Boating incident death – South Stradbroke

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after the death of a man in a boating incident near South Stradbroke Island late yesterday afternoon.

Around 6pm police were called after a 51-year-old man skippering a boat fell overboard while manoeuvring the vessel.

Witnesses on a nearby vessel retrieved the man from the water and performed CPR. They transported the man to a jetty at Bruce Avenue at Paradise Point where emergency services attended.

The man sustained critical injuries and died shortly after at the scene.
