- $53.9 million Stage 2 of world-class Bob Hawke College officially opened
- Second stage includes a performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studios, music rooms, general classrooms, student services facilities and playing courts
- New state-of-the-art facilities to provide a hub for student talent and creativity
Premier Roger Cook and Education Minister Tony Buti today officially opened Stage 2 of the landmark Bob Hawke College in Subiaco.
The $53.9 million development is set to make the Subiaco school a hub of student creativity and talent, providing students with opportunities to express themselves through the arts.
Officially opened today, the new state-of-the-art facilities include a theatre with capacity for 350 people, a performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studio and music and media rooms.
The second stage also includes general learning areas, additional student services facilities and multi-purpose playing courts.
A rooftop terrace is part of the landscaping works that provide students a place to relax and connect during break times. Additional areas for recess and lunch include grassed spaces and table tennis tables.
As part of Stage 2 of the project, some existing classrooms were also re-fit to create a commercial kitchen, fitness centre and engineering workshop.
Hassell Studio designed the new facilities with Stage 2 built by PACT Construction.
There are currently 1,281 students enrolled at the College, with the newly opened Stage 2 facilities enabling the college to cater for up to 2,000 students.
The project is part of a significant capital works program more than $1.5 billion the Cook Government is delivering to build and improve public education facilities across Western Australia.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

“The Stage 2 facilities significantly increase the capacity of this school and provide more opportunities for its students – particularly when it comes to exploring their creativity and talents in the arts.
“I look forward to seeing many generations of students learning in these world-class facilities, and continuing to deliver high-quality school infrastructure projects across WA for our students to thrive in.”
As stated by Education Minister Tony Buti:
“Since opening in 2020, Bob Hawke College has provided an excellent education for students in the local community.
“The state-of-the-art new theatre and performing arts centre will enable the community to come together for assemblies, parent information sessions and student performances.
“Modern classroom areas and landscaped outdoor spaces have been designed to support the College’s health and wellbeing programs and to enhance student learning.”
