Body located as search for missing fisherman continues – Snowy Mountains

A body has been located, and a search is set to continue today, after two fishermen were reported missing in the Snowy Mountains.

About 11.15pm on Wednesday 6 September 2023, officers from Monaro Police District were notified that two men – both aged 73 – had not returned after fishing in Lake Eucambene, near Adaminaby.

Police, with assistance from the NSW Marine Area Command divers, NSW SES, Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter Service, Westpac helicopter, and Marine Rescue, commenced an extensive search of the waterway and nearby bushland.

Following inquiries, the body of one of the men was located yesterday (Thursday 7 September 2023).

Despite an extensive search, the second man was not located, and the multi-agency search was suspended about 3pm due to bad weather.

The search is set to resume at 8am today (Friday 8 September 2023).

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
