Long considered the company’s signature ballet, Spartacus is being screened as part of the QPAC International Series 2019, with music performed by Queensland Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Pavel Sorokin.

Cairns Mayor Bob Manning said Cairns was one of a select number of regional centres to have been afforded the opportunity to live stream this performance.

“For people living in regional areas, it can be difficult to gain access to such world class events, but with our new entertainment precinct and through the strength of our partnership with QPAC, we hope to provide the community with many more opportunities of this kind,” Cr Manning said.

“This simulcast event also captures the underlying vision we had for our entertainment precinct – to create a place, including CPAC and the Munro Martin Parklands, where the people of this city could enjoy performing arts, festivals and gatherings.

“Hosting this event at MMP means that it can be enjoyed by the largest audience possible, and what could be more indicative of our tropical lifestyle than having families come into this venue and enjoy this dynamic performance from the comfort of a picnic rug or a chair.”
