Border crossings reminder – Finke Desert Race

Northern Territory Police are reminding travellers of the Territory’s entry requirements ahead of next weekend’s Finke Desert Race.

A/Commander Hege Burns said, “The whole of Victoria is currently a declared COVID-19 hotspot for the Northern Territory, meaning anyone who has been in Victoria after midday 3 June must undertake 14 days of mandatory supervised quarantine.

“We realise that a lot of Victorians had hoped to travel to the Territory for the Finke Desert Race next weekend, and unfortunately those people will not be able to attend if they are only now arriving in the NT.

“We do remind anyone coming to the Territory that completing an online border arrival form is a requirement.

“The vast majority of travellers are doing the right thing, and we thank you for keeping the Territory safe.

“If you are aware or suspect that someone has not complied with border entry requirements, you can report it anonymously online at pfes.nt.gov.au/reportonline or call 131 444.”

The penalty for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environment Health Act 2011 is $5056 for an individual and $25,280 for a business.
