Bottle shop break-in Henley Beach

Police are investigating after thousands of dollars of alcohol and cigarettes were stolen from a store at Henley Beach early this morning.

About 2.50am on Wednesday 6 September, Western District patrols were called to the Esplanade following an alarm activation on a bottle shop.

On arrival police confirmed a break-in on the premises through the rear door where a large amount of alcohol and cigarettes were stolen.

CCTV footage revealed a white Holden utility pull up to shop and one man wearing dark coloured clothing, a black beanie and wearing gloves enter and fill the car with bottles of alcohol and cartons of cigarettes.

Two people on pushbikes can be seen nearby acting as a lookout as the break-in takes place.

The utility and the bikes then headed south on Seaview Road.

About an hour later police located a man who had fallen from a bike on Seaview Road at Henley Beach South. Checks revealed the bike had been stolen about a month ago. The man was in possession of a laptop and a mobile phone both suspected of being stolen.

A 39–year-old man from Henley Beach South has been charged with theft and unlawful possession. He has been bailed to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 18 October.

Police suspect the man may have been involved in the earlier break-in however Investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information that may be able to assist including motorists with dashcam footage who may have been in the area are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
