Bridge foundations to support a new path for Carseldine

Two concrete piers are being installed at Cabbage Tree Creek, marking the beginning of construction for a $1 million community pedestrian and cycle bridge at Carseldine Urban Village.

Member for Aspley Bart Mellish said it’s fantastic to see the bridge taking shape, and an extra three jobs supported by the project.

“The bridge is going to provide a safe and direct route for students and residents as they make their way between the school, sports fields and Carseldine train station,” Mr Mellish said.

“I listened to the community when they called for this bridge to be put in place during consultation for Carseldine Village, and fought hard to get it done.

“Construction of the bridge is expected to be completed later this year, and once finished it will be a great addition to the area.

“This will benefit Aspley State High Students as well as locals travelling between Carseldine, Aspley and Zillmere.”

Funding for the bridge was secured through the Palaszczuk Government’s Growth Area and Regional Infrastructure Investment Fund, with Education Queensland making an additional $100,000 contribution.

Mr Mellish said since the opening of Carseldine Village’s sport and recreation precinct in January, locals have flocked to use the facilities.

“The Green has fast become a major social and sports hub for our community,” he said.

“It’s great that locals can now come here to catch up, get active and have fun, and improving accessibility with this bridge will help further maximise the precinct.”
