Building approvals data highlights steady confidence

While the pandemic is impacting economies right across the nation it is encouraging to see a significant increase in building approvals in Tasmania during July 2020.

The latest ABS data shows building approvals in Tasmania increased by 50 per cent from June to July 2020 and was 28.4% higher than one year earlier.

The total number of building approvals in Tasmania for the 12 months to July 2020 was 3,237 – an average of 270 per month.

The total value of building jobs approved over the 12 months also reached $1.59 billion.

Our record $3.1 billion construction blitz over two years will help build ourselves out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This investment will underpin around 15,000 jobs, supporting our vital building and construction industry and local jobs when it is needed most.
