Building works progressing at new Brighton High School

Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

The Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering better educational facilities for Tasmanian students, with building works well underway at the new Brighton High School.

Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the new school is starting to take shape with works underway since February.

“It was fantastic to view the progress today with representatives from Fairbrother Construction and Joinery who are undertaking the build,” Minister Jaensch said.

“It’s great to see some of these facilities already taking shape, with the framing of the multi-purpose hall completed.

“As with all our major capital projects, extensive community and stakeholder consultation has helped shape development.

“The new school, which will accommodate up to 600 students and include a multi-purpose hall, performing arts space, and gymnasium, will be a fantastic asset to the Brighton community – with the region projected to be one of the fastest growing in the State over the next 20 years.

“Our Government is delivering for Tasmanian students and I look forward to seeing the build continue and to opening the doors to students in 2025.”

The new high school is part of the Rockliff Liberal Government’s record investment in new education infrastructure for the Brighton community, with the $4.3 million redevelopment of the Jordan River School Farm also completed in 2022.
