Burnley speeding drink driver

Officers from Prahran Highway Patrol nabbed a speeding drink driver in Burnley last night.

Police were patrolling Citylink about 11.30pm when they detected a Ford ute travelling at 130km/h in an 80km/h zone.

They intercepted the ute and spoke to the driver, a 29-year-old man from Koo Wee Rup, who then underwent a preliminary breath test.

He then attended the local station for an evidentiary test where he returned an alleged reading of 0.205%.

His car was impounded with costs of $873 and he is expected to be summonsed for drink driving related offences.

He was also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and was issued a $1652 penalty notice.

The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
