Townsville City Council’s new Bushfire Dashboard launches today to help residents access critical bushfire information in one convenient location.
The dashboard will now be the first page you see when visiting Council’s Emergency Management and Disaster Dashboard from June through to October, aligning with North Queensland’s bushfire season.
Townsville Local Disaster Management Group Chair Mayor Nick Dametto said delivering the Bushfire Dashboard put essential information at the community’s fingertips.
“This has been a particularly active bushfire season for Townsville, so it’s more important now than ever that clear and accurate updates on bushfires are available to our community around the clock,” Cr Dametto said.
“The dashboard brings together real-time information from trusted sources, including fire danger ratings, weather conditions, current incidents and active warnings issued by the Queensland Fire Department. Residents can also access guidance on preparedness and fire permits, making it easier to understand their responsibilities and prepare their properties.
“Delivering this dashboard is just one way Council promotes community safety and disaster resilience all year around.”
The Bushfire Dashboard will be the first thing residents see when they visit Townsville’s Emergency Management and Disaster Dashboard from June through to October each year.
When the high-risk weather season starts in November through to May the Bushfire Dashboard will just be one click away for visitors to the Disaster Dashboard and will continue to provide real-time updates on bushfires across the local government area.
The original Disaster Dashboard will still be available by clicking onto the Dashboard tab from June to October so residents can continue to access all of the disaster information they need to throughout the year.
