Call for information – Domestic violence – Casuarina

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a female was assaulted in Casuarina over the weekend.

Around 7:20pm on Saturday 23 March 2024, the female victim was located on Dripstone Road when she was assaulted by her 40-year-old male partner. The male allegedly repeatedly assaulted her before lighting her clothes on fire, which was extinguished by witnesses.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the victim was conveyed to the Royal Darwin Hospital for further medical treatment.

The male was arrested without incident and charged with:

  • Reckless endanger serious harm
  • Aggravated assault

He was remanded in custody to appear before Darwin Local court today.

Acting Senior Sergeant Kaye Pemberton said, “Domestic and family violence continues to be a significant concern in the Territory and perpetrators of domestic violence will be held accountable for their actions.”
