Call to Be Kind to all businesses

Ballarat residents are being urged to Be Kind to all businesses, including those that can’t yet open under the Victorian Government’s restrictions.

City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Ben Taylor said some businesses, including gyms, dance studios and indoor fitness centres, may not be able to open their doors until late November.

“While we are supporting the tourism, hospitality and retail businesses that have been able to open over the past few days, we also need to keep in mind the businesses that can’t open and are still operating online only,” Cr Taylor said.

“I would ask all Ballarat residents to Be Kind and support all businesses, whether it be going to a café for a meal, doing some shopping in the CBD or going online to take a fitness class or a dance class.

“While it’s great that some businesses have been able to reopen due to the fantastic work regional Victoria has done in keeping down its COVID-19 numbers, there are still some businesses that are really feeling the pinch and we need to support them as well, along with the businesses that are open to the public.

“Since COVID-19 first caused Ballarat to lockdown in March, we have all pulled together to support each other and I have no doubt we will do so again.

“So please, Be Kind to all businesses so we can ensure as many businesses as possible get through these tough times.”
