Residents are invited to experience Camden’s streets in a whole new way, with the 2026 Street Flag Exhibition now on display across Camden Town Centre and Oran Park Town Centre.

The exhibition showcases the creativity and talent of artists from across the Macarthur region, transforming everyday streets into vibrant outdoor galleries for the community to enjoy.

The initiative received an overwhelming response from the artistic community, with more than 120 Expressions of Interest submitted. In recognition of the exceptional quality of entries, Council expanded the exhibition beyond its original scope, with a total of 124 artworks now on display across the Camden area, including:

  • 42 street flags in Camden Town Centre;
  • 20 street flags in Oran Park Town Centre;
  • 41 kerbside locations at the intersections of John Street and Argyle Street in Camden;
  • 13 bus shelters in Camden; and
  • 8 bus shelters in Oran Park.

Originally planned as only a street flag exhibition in Camden and Oran Park town centres, the initiative was expanded after the outstanding response from local artists, allowing even more creative works to be showcased throughout the community.

TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Graphic Design, Screen and Media, Visual Arts, Photography and Digital Imaging, and Cultural Art, Ms Lydia Kullik, said she was honoured that 32 students from Diploma of Graphic Design and Diploma of Visual Arts courses had works selected for the public art exhibition.

“This achievement reflects the outstanding quality of work produced by our students and highlights the high standard of teaching and learning we deliver at TAFE NSW Campbelltown. It’s terrific to collaborate with Camden Council on this fantastic opportunity.”

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the exhibition demonstrated Council’s commitment to supporting local artists while creating engaging public spaces.

“The Street Flag Exhibition brings art out of traditional gallery spaces and into the heart of our community, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy,” she said.

“Whether you’re shopping, dining, meeting friends or simply taking a stroll, I encourage everyone to take the time to explore the exhibition and discover the stories, ideas and perspectives captured in each artwork.”

TAFE NSW Campbelltown Diploma of Graphic Design students, Danielle Tyerman and Sharon Auerbach, said it was a surreal experience to have been selected as part of the exhibition.

“Being a local, it was so exciting to see my work being recognised and displayed within the community. I used some of the floral illustrations from a project we were working on at TAFE NSW. The florals reflected the beauty, growth, and community spirit of the area. It’s rewarding to see our skills recognised and applied in a real-world project”, Danielle said.

“Having my work chosen for public display was both exciting and rewarding. It gave me confidence in my abilities as a designer. It was a proud moment to see something I’d created representing both my studies and my local community. The selected artwork features intricate mandala style illustrations inspired by standard poodles. Animals, particularly my own dogs, have always been a favourite subject in my creative work”, Sharon said.

The exhibition is free to enjoy and will be on display until 31 August 2026 across Camden Town Centre and Oran Park Town Centre.

Residents are encouraged to explore both locations to experience the full collection of artworks and support the talented artists whose work is helping shape Camden’s creative landscape.
