Caring For Beverley Whitfield Ocean Pool

Shellharbour City Council will undertake annual maintenance at the much-loved Beverley Whitfield Ocean Pool from Monday 3 August to Friday 21 August 2026, helping ensure the popular community facility remains safe, functional and in excellent condition.

The pool will be temporarily closed during this period while Council staff undertake essential maintenance, including cleaning, surface preparation, and repainting of the pool. Maintenance will also be carried out in the plant room and inlet line to help ensure the facility continues to operate safely and efficiently.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the annual maintenance program was an important investment in one of the city’s most iconic coastal destinations.

“Beverley Whitfield Ocean Pool is one of Shellharbour’s most loved landmarks and an important part of our coastal lifestyle,” Mayor Homer said.

“Regular maintenance is essential to keeping the pool safe, well-presented, and enjoyable for everyone who uses it. Scheduling these works during winter helps minimise disruption and ensures the pool is ready for the warmer months ahead.”

The works form part of Council’s ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance community facilities across the city.

While the pool is closed, visitors are encouraged to make use of other nearby aquatic and recreational facilities. Weather permitting, Beverley Whitfield Ocean Pool is expected to reopen on Saturday 22 August 2026.

Council thanks the community for its patience and understanding while these important works are completed.
