CBD Revitalisation: Continuing to Transform our City to Attract Tourists and Residents

Building on the success of the 2019 Street Art Festival, theTerritory Labor Government is calling on community groups, individuals,businesses, and non-profit organisations to bring forward ideas to continue torevitalise the Darwin CBD.

Revitalising the city is an important part of attractingmore tourists and residents, making it a better place to live, work and visit,and transforming it into a world-class destination.

This latest initiative provides funding to those with ideasto further help develop the CBD. From a total funding pool of $200,000, ideaswith merit and shortlisted by the Activate Darwin Board, are eligible for up tothe maximum $20,000 grant. Final voting will then beopened up to a public vote.

Projects from the challenge will continue to supporttransformation in the city centre, in conjunction with work already underway.

CBD work and projects includes the Austin Lane connectivityproject, the Cavenagh Street heat mitigation trials, Street Art Festival andthe Laneway Series, and the recently announced State Square Master Plan.

The Transforming Public Spaces Challenge ideas contest isopen until 30 September, entries can be submitted online at www.cbd.nt.gov.au.

The Territory Labor Government continues to make our DarwinCBD a more vibrant and attractive place for people to enjoy.

Weve seen vibrancy enhanced most recently through theresounding success of the Territory Government funded Darwin Street ArtFestival.

Thats why Im excited about this challenge as it allowspeople to put forward their own ideas which they can see come to fruition withfunding up to $20,000.

Activate Darwin is delivering many different activities inthe CBD which correlates with an increase of foot traffic to those areas, andit will be great to see what ideas are submitted from the community.
