CCTV appeal after serious assault in Liverpool

Police have released CCTV images in an appeal for public information following a serious assault on public transport in Sydney’s west earlier last month.

About 2pm on Saturday 1 October 2022, a man and woman boarded the ‘808’ bus, travelling from Fairfield to Abbotsbury, on Northumberland Street, Liverpool, when they allegedly failed to pay.

When the service was refused, the male allegedly assaulted the bus driver before the female threw food at him. The pair then exited the bus and fled on foot.

The 64-year-old bus driver was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for injuries to his nose and mouth.

Officers attached to the Police Transport Command were attended and commenced an investigation into the incident.

As inquiries continue, police have released several images of a man and woman who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

The male is described as being of Pacific Islander/ Maori appearance, aged in his early 20’s, of medium build, with a rattail haircut. He is depicted wearing a white baseball cap, dark blue T-shirt, long black pants, and black shoes.

The female is described as being of Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern appearance, aged in her early 20’s, with dark coloured hair and believed to be pregnant. She is depicted wearing a long sleeve grey hooded jumper, long black truck pants and white shoes.
