CCTV released as investigations continue into attempted murder – Surry Hills

Detectives have released CCTV vision as investigations continue into the attempted murder of a man and the stabbing of a second man earlier this year.

Shortly after 3am on Saturday 29 July 2023, emergency services responded to Oxford Street, Surry Hills, after reports of a stabbing outside a nightclub.

A 25-year-old man was reportedly approached by a number of men – armed with knives – and stabbed multiple times. A 34-year-old man was also stabbed, when he went to the aid of the younger man.

The armed men fled and were last seen running south down Foley Street.

The younger man was driven to St Vincent’s Hospital by friends, where he was treated for his injuries.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the older man, and he was conveyed to hospital for injuries sustained to his arm and hand.

The two men – who are not known to each other – have since both been released from hospital.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command attended and secured three crime scenes along Oxford Street, which were all forensically examined. The vehicle was also seized for examination.

Detectives established Strike Force Jacob to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, investigators have now released CCTV vision of three men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The three men depicted are described as being of African appearance, about 170 to 180 cm tall, and of slim build.

The first man is shown wearing a dark hooded jumper, dark pants, and white shoes. The second is wearing a dark hooded jumper, dark pants, and black shoes. The third is wearing a dark hooded jumper, white shorts, and black shoes.

Police are urging anyone who knows the identity of the men or has information that may assist investigators to contact Surry Hills Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
