The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel Associated No 56) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel Associated No 57) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction came into effect at 4:53pm on Friday, 8 October 2021.
Key changes include:
The Cross Border Corridor has reverted to be 70km either side of the South Australia / Victorian Border (excluding Portland, Victoria).
Cross Border Community Members must produce evidence of a COVID-19 test or a negative COVID-19 test result, within 7 days before their arrival or will need to undertake a COVID-19 test within 48 hours of entering South Australia.
The community is reminded that permitted purposes to travel across the border are limited to:
- Employment of education
- Providing care or support to or receiving care form another person
- Obtaining food, petrol or other fuel, medical care or supplies
- Obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination
- Recreational or competitive sport.
The community is also reminded that those wishing to enter South Australia cannot associate with people outside of the Cross Border Corridor (which excludes Portland).
As of 12.01am on Monday, 18 October 2021: Cross Border Community Members aged 18 or above must have evidence of at least one dose of a TGA approved COVID-19 vaccination.
An Essential Traveller is not required to have evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination if:
- They have a medical certificate from a legally qualified medical practitioner issued in accordance with guidelines published by the Australian Technical Advisory Group;
- The certificate specifies the nature of the exemption and the basis on which it applies; and
- They produce the certificate on request by an authorised officer.
