A man has now been charged with murder following a serious assault incident at Railton yesterday.
Shortly after 8.30am, emergency services attended a private residence following reports a man had been assaulted.
The alleged offender had left the scene and was arrested at a nearby location a short time later.
The 42-year-old man from Tarleton was detained to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court tonight charged with an unlawful act intended to cause bodily harm.
However the victim – a 48-year-old man from Railton – died at the Royal Hobart Hospital a short time ago.
The man will now appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court tonight on a charge of murder.
