A man has been charged after a pedestrian was killed when struck by a motorcycle in Sydney’s south.
About 6.45pm on Friday 12 April 2024, emergency services were called to the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Barsbys Avenue, Allawah, following reports of a motorcycle and pedestrian crash.
The rider – a 30-year old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a serious leg injury and taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.
The pedestrian – a man believed to be aged in his 70s – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene
He is yet to be formally identified. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Officers attached to St George Police Area Command established a crime scene which was forensically examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, on Saturday 13 April 2024 the 30-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death, and his licence was suspended.
He was refused bail to appear at a bedside court sitting today (Sunday 14 April 2024).
