A 73-year-old Cherrybrook man will face Downing Centre District Court today (Wednesday, 15 September 2021) charged over an alleged sexual touching at Sydney International Airport.
On 27 August 2021, the man, who was employed at Sydney International Airport, entered a café where it is alleged he sexually touched a female café employee.
The alleged victim attended the Australian Federal Police Airport Office on 28 August 2021 to report the incident. Police were able to obtain CCTV footage from within the café which police will allege corroborates the victim’s complaint.
Police investigations revealed the suspect to be a 73-year-old Cherrybrook man who works at the Sydney International Airport.
On 28 August 2021, Police applied for an Apprehended Personal Violence Order against the man.
The next day, 29 August 2021, police obtained further CCTV footage from inside the café, which allegedly showed an additional assault on the victim at an earlier time by the same man.
Later that day, the man attended Sydney Airport Police Station where he participated in a record of interview. Following the interview, the man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for 15 September 2021 for the following offences:
Two counts of entering enclosed land (not prescribed premises) without lawful excuse, contrary s4(1)(b) Enclosed Lands Protection Act 1901 (NSW); and
Two counts of sexually touching another person without consent, contrary to S61KC(a) Crimes Act 1900 (NSW).
The man was also served with the Apprehended Personal Violence Order.
