Chifley police charge teen with allegedly robbing Cowra woman at knife point

Chifley police have charged a teen with break and enter, intimidation and pursuit offences after he allegedly broke into a Cowra home and robbed a woman at knife point last week.

About 4.30pm Thursday 10 October 2024, police were called to a home on Fitzroy Avenue, Cowra, following reports of a break and enter.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District arrived and were told an unknown teen had broken into the home and robbed a 71-year-old woman at knifepoint while she was in her loungeroom before stealing her car.

A short time later police located the allegedly stolen vehicle travelling on Redfern Street, Cowra.

Officers directed the driver to stop, however when they allegedly failed to do so, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

A crime scene was established at the home and an investigation into the incident was commenced by police.

On Monday 14 October 2024, police arrested a 17-year-old boy at Cowra Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence armed, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, driver never licenced, dishonestly obtain property by deception and police pursuit not stop drive at speed.

The teen was refused bail to appear before Children’s Court yesterday (Tuesday 15 October 2024), where he was further refused bail to reappear before Children’s Court on Monday 28 October 2024.
