Childcare worker charged with allegedly assaulting two children – Panania

A childcare worker has been charged with allegedly assaulting two children in his care at a childcare centre in Sydney’s southwest earlier this week.

On Friday 24 April 2026, officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command received a report that a childcare worker had allegedly assaulted two boys – aged 3 and 4 – at a Panania childcare centre about 1.00pm the previous day (Thursday 23 April 2026).

Police were told the worker – a 25-year-old man – had allegedly slapped the boys in the face with an open hand.

Following inquiries, about 7.45am today (Saturday 25 April 2026), police arrested the man at a Belmore address before he was taken to Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of common assault.

He was refused bail to appear in Bail Division – Court 7 tomorrow (Sunday 26 April 2026).
