Wingecarribee Shire Council is gearing up to ring in the festive season with an expanded program of Shire-wide merriments.

Council’s General Manager, Ms Lisa Miscamble, unveiled the Shire’s promotional campaign for Christmas.

“The campaign artwork features the iconic waratah and encourages people to have a merry and magical Highlands Christmas.”

Starting next week three Community Christmas Trees will be rolled out across Bowral, Moss Vale and Mittagong.

“Christmas trees have long been one of the key symbols of the holiday season and we hope ours will help spread the festive cheer throughout the Shire and remind everyone of the true spirit of Christmas,” said Ms Miscamble.

“It’ll also make sure the reindeer can spot the Southern Highlands from high above on Christmas Eve regardless of the weather.”

The first tree lighting ceremony will be held from 4.30 pm on Tuesday 7 December in Bowral’s Corbett Plaza. Celebrations will feature live entertainment and children’s activities.

Similar events will be held outside Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre on Thursday 9 December and at the Mittagong Welcome Centre on Friday 10 December.

“There’s even a rumour that the jolly man himself might stop in to make a very special guest appearance,” added Ms Miscamble. “You won’t want to miss it!”
