City Mission helping Tasmanians with surging power costs

Tasmanian Labor

Labor leader
Rebecca White today met with Launceston City Mission CEO, Stephen Brown to hear
about the struggles of Tasmanians facing surging power bills and discuss
Labor’s policy to cap power prices.

Mr Brown said
that Launceston City Mission are seeing more people struggling to pay their
power bills as part of broader cost of living pressures.

Labor has a
solution to help Tasmanians through the cost of living crisis by capping power
prices.

Under
Labor’s policy, we would cap power price increases at 2.5% each year for the
next three years saving the average Tasmanian household $500 a year.

Tasmanians
deserve to be able to live without fear of how they will pay their next bill.

While
the wonderful work of organisations such as the Launceston City Mission is
deserving of the highest praise, Tasmanians shouldn’t have to rely on emergency
assistance to heat their homes or take a hot shower.

Our policy will help change things for the better.
