Grand Final fever has taken over Fremantle! In addition to the previously announced live site on the Cappuccino Strip, the City of Fremantle is adding three more locations within the city centre for footy fans to watch the game on the big screen.
The additional big screens will be located at: Walyalup Koort, Esplanade Reserve and on the corner of Market and High Streets.
The viewing sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis for people of all ages. The Esplanade Reserve is a family-friendly zone and Walyalup Koort is an accessible zone.
The viewing sites will be open from 8am and will close at 8pm on Saturday 26 September.
All live sites are alcohol-free and people are encouraged to think-ahead for their food and beverage requirements by checking what options will be made available by local businesses on the day.
Road closures from the Fremantle Train Station to the end of the Cappuccino Strip at the Fremantle Markets will be in place from midday on Friday.
People are encouraged to walk, ride or take advantage of the free public transport, but if driving overflow parking will be available at Fremantle Park.
These live sites are in addition to ticketed events at Fremantle Oval and dozens of hospitality venues around Fremantle.
It is estimated that up to 40,000 people may attend various event sites across the Fremantle city centre over the course of the day.
The City has engaged a professional event delivery company to manage the live sites, which will have security, toilets, and first aid in place.
The City is also working directly with WA Police to ensure event crowd management measures are in place and being led by police on the day.
Footy fans are encouraged to be safe and plan their day accordingly, by keeping up to date with the latest on the City’s website and social media channels
