City of Greater Bendigo and Fosterville Gold Mine launch new Great Ideas Grant

The City of Greater Bendigo and Fosterville Gold Mine are pleased to launch a new $60,000 funding initiative called the Great Ideas Grant to kick start great ideas for social innovation within the Greater Bendigo community.

City of Greater Bendigo Deputy Mayor Cr Rod Fyffe said through the new grant $60,000 is available for the successful recipient/s to undertake projects that apply new ideas and ways of doing things with the ultimate goal of improving our community’s wellbeing and sustainability.

“There are people in our community who have great ideas but need funding support to make them happen. The Great Ideas Grant will help them to develop these great ideas with the aim of making our community healthy and well, safe and secure, connected and liveable,” Cr Fyffe said.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for local people to take action to transform challenges into opportunities. After all it only takes one great idea to make a difference.”

Fosterville Gold Mine Vice President of Australia Operations Ian Holland said the company was pleased to partner with the City to launch the Great Ideas Grant program.

“Fosterville Gold Mine is excited to be part of this and we are looking forward to seeing some great outcomes for our community,” Mr Holland said.

“Through the grant we are looking for projects that will create a much healthier Bendigo, promote positive community wellbeing and connection, improve the participation and development of residents of all ages and abilities, create a safer and more resilient community, help strengthen our local economy by supporting local business and industry, our environmental sustainability and our culture and heritage.”

The Great Ideas Grant is open to incorporated organisations and businesses or organisations who are supported by one of these. Businesses are eligible to apply because the focus of the grant is on the outcomes that will be achieved, not who will be playing a coordination role in those outcomes.
