City of Salisbury is consistently monitoring the evolving threat of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in order to determine the most effective actions in line with advice from the State and Federal Governments and other key agencies.

The status of COVID-19 is rapidly changing and an internal team made up of representatives from across the organisation is in regular contact to ensure our responses are timely.

Council’s primary concern remains the health and welfare of all members of our community and our staff and the delivery of essential services.

We have put in place a number of measures to promote safety and reduce the potential for the spread of COVID-19.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on our social media platforms and website.

What actions are we taking?

  • We will monitor attendance at the Salisbury Community Hub and other sites to ensure there is no more than 100 people in our centres at a time, in line with Federal Government advice
  • Access to Level 1 of the Salisbury Community Hub will be restricted as of 8:30am Friday 20 March. If you require access to the non-fiction section of the library located on Level 1, please speak with staff on the floor
  • Home Assist services will continue to operate with suitable social distancing measures in place
  • Justice of Peace services are offered by volunteers and their availability may be limited. Please telephone us on 8406 8222 to confirm whether there is a JP available at the time you need

What is happening with scheduled events and programs?

We are reviewing the status of all of our scheduled events and programs. Cancelled programs include:

  • Harmony Week Program

Ali’s Wedding Movie Screening, Thursday 19 March

Multicultural Activities and Performances, Friday 20 March

Morella Community Centre Family Fun Day, Saturday 21 March

City of Salisbury Library Children’s Programs, Tuesday 17 March to Saturday 21 March

  • School holiday library program
  • Saturday sessions in the plaza

We have also restricted a number of educational programs within the Salisbury Community Hub.

What else are we doing to reduce the spread of the virus?

  • Increased cleaning services
  • Informing our community through a number of methods including social media, our websites and signage in our centres
  • A team of key staff members is working to monitor and act as the situation continues to evolve
  • Social distancing: we are encouraging the practice of social distancing and are putting measures in place to allow for this practice. It is recommended to maintain a personal distance of 1.5m between individuals
  • Our staff are working staggered shifts where possible, as well as the option to work from home to ensure the continuity of our service to the community
