The City of Swan welcomes today’s announcement by the Federal Government to connect town scheme water to residents in Bullsbrook impacted by PFAS water contamination.
The announcement was made today at the site of the soon-to-be constructed National Resilience Centre in Bullsbrook, where ground was officially broken to mark the commencement of construction.
City residents and landowners to the west and south west of the RAAF Base Pearce have been impacted by recently identified PFAS and PFOA contamination to their soil and drinking water.
City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said the announcement is an excellent outcome for the Bullsbrook community.
“The City has been advocating strongly for the installation of scheme water to properties in West Bullsbrook a number of years, and it is a great relief to finally hear a resolution,” he said.
“I’d like to thank the Morrison Government for this commitment to supply safe drinking water for the safety and wellbeing of our community in West Bullsbrook, as it constructs the new multi-million dollar National Resilience Centre.”
Mayor Bailey added that today’s update on the National Resilience Centre was an exciting milestone for the local community.
“The City welcomes opportunities to welcome West Australians and return travellers back home safely,” he said.
“We support the Australian Government’s National Resilience Centre project and look forward to seeing the broader benefits of this development in the City of Swan.”
