Clarence Valley Australia Day nominations have been extended

Do you know someone whose contributions have made the Clarence Valley a better place to live?

Clarence Valley Mayor Cr Jim Simmons is calling on locals to shine a light on our unsung heroes and nominate them for an Australia Day Award.

Every year the community celebrates the achievements and contributions of outstanding members of the community through the Australia Day Awards.

Nominations for the awards open today.

“Being nominated for an Australia Day Award is a great honour and it is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate those inspiring people in our community who make you feel proud to be Australian,” Cr Simmons said.

“We are looking for nominations of individuals and groups who have made an important contribution to our community.”

Nominees may just be an outstanding representative of the Clarence Valley who volunteers their time, or perhaps their work helps others.

“We are extremely fortunate to have so many incredible people and community groups who consistently go above and beyond and this is a good way to make sure their efforts are recognised,” he said.

“We need to acknowledge these special people in our community and show our thanks, to inspire others to continue building on the work already being carried out by those who make a difference.”

Nominations are open in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Junior Citizen of the Year
  • Community Group Achievement Award
  • Local Hero
