Climate change challenge takes centre stage

The challenges arising from our current climate crisis and loss of seasons will confront Greater Geelong residents as the award-winning performance ‘The End of Winter’ takes centre stage at Drysdale’s Potato Shed on Saturday 19 August 2023.

The stage play, first produced by Sydney’s Siren Theatre Co, leans heavily into the themes of loss and resilience.

The show addresses one of Australia’s most frequently discussed topics, the weather, highlighting the necessity to take seriously the serious challenges and threats posed by climate change.

The End of Winter is about the places one can search for cold weather – places that can be reached via public transport and the imagination.

The performance on Saturday 19 August 2023 begins at 8:00pm.

Mayor Trent Sullivan

Our region is fortunate to have the opportunity to showcase the play that claimed the 2023 Sydney Theatre Awards Best Independent Performance.

We’re really privileged to host a show that is both entertaining and enormously thought provoking.

The End of Winter was written in the wake of the 2019 bushfires and touches on some challenging themes in a really engaging manner.

To have it performed in a one-off event at Drysdale’s Potato Shed is very special.
