The Carroll Labor Government’s West Tarneit Station opened to passengers this morning.
The new station will cater to Melbourne’s growing west, making it easier to catch the train.
It features a 400-space car park, four-bay bus interchange, and secure bicycle storage and hoops.
Both platforms are fully accessible, with ramps, stairs and a pedestrian underpass.
There will be improved bus connections from day one, with more than 1,100 weekly services added to the Tarneit bus network.
A new Route 186 bus will operate between Tarneit Station and West Tarneit Station, via Dohertys Road.
Route 182 will run to a higher frequency and travel via the new West Tarneit Station.
Labor has also added bigger trains to the Wyndham Vale line – boosting capacity by up to 50 per cent during the morning and evening peaks.
Crews will continue landscaping works while the station is open, planting more than 65,000 native trees, plants and grasses, alongside new seating and walking and cycling paths.
Jess Wilson’s Liberal-One Nation Coalition have already promised to cut larger trains on the Wyndham Vale Line, as part of their $40 billion cuts plan.
If they get the chance, they’ll cut more.
