Clr Dr Peter Kim elected as Deputy Mayor of City of Ryde

CLR DR PETER KIM ELECTED AS DEPUTY MAYOR OF CITY OF
RYDE

Clr Dr Peter Kim has been elected as Deputy Mayor of the City of Ryde.

Clr Dr Kim, who has represented the West Ward since his election as a Councillor in 2017, was
elected Deputy Mayor for a one -year term.

Prior to the election for Deputy Mayor, Council determined to hold the vote as an open vote, with Clr
Dr Peter Kim and Clr Christopher Gordon nominating for the ro le. Both received six votes each, with
Clr Dr Kim elected to the Deputy Mayor position after his name was drawn out of a hat.

Clr Dr Kim said: “I am honoured to be elected as Deputy Mayor for the City of Ryde.

“I look forward to serving the City of Ryde as Deputy Mayor and continuing to work hard with my
fellow councillors on delivering the best outcomes for everyone in the community. I will take a Good
Samaritan approach in dealing with our residents. I will work with the Mayor, all Councillors, General
Manager and the staff. I am particularly grateful to the Councillors who have voted for me: Clr s
Maggio, Yedelian OAM, Lane, Brown, and Moujalli.”

City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Jerome Laxale, said he looked forward to working with Clr Dr Kim and all
other Councillors over the next 12 months.

“I congratulate Clr Dr Kim on his election as Deputy Mayor and would like to thank Clr Zhou for his
work as Deputy Mayor over the past two years,” Clr Laxale said.
