Collie Health Service redevelopment reaches milestone

  • Forward works on $12.2 million Collie Health Service redevelopment reaches practical completion
  • Delivers a refurbishment and relocation of some outpatient service areas to make way for the redevelopment of the operating theatre suite
  • Tender released for main program of works
  • The $12.2 million redevelopment of the Collie Health Service is on track and progressing with forward works reaching practical completion.

In an important step to prepare the site for the main construction phase, the preliminary works have delivered a refurbishment and relocation of some outpatient service areas to make way for the redevelopment of the operating theatre.

As part of this early scope of works, a large existing room has been converted into four separate rooms for podiatrist, social work, dietetics and administrative services.

A new room to relocate the existing telehealth service has also been built to ensure Collie residents can continue utilising the service to access some specialist outpatient appointments close to home via videoconferencing.

Local South West businesses are now being encouraged to submit their applications for the main works package now live on TendersWA.

This phase of the redevelopment will see upgrades to the entire operating theatre complex.

The WA Country Health Service is working with the Collie community to minimise any disruption caused by the temporary relocation of theatre services, including providing individual support to impacted patients.

Consultation has occurred at every stage of the redevelopment to ensure the upgrades meet the needs of the community.

The redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2023.

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

“I’m pleased to see this important project has progressed one step closer to delivering an upgraded facility equipped to meet local service demand now and into the future.

“This investment will benefit both patients and staff and ensure Collie Health Service continues to provide a high quality level of care close to home.”

As stated by Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns:

“The major redevelopment project is being informed through ongoing consultation with the Collie Health Service Community Reference Group to ensure the McGowan Government is delivering a facility that gives our patients the best healthcare experience.

“This project will create local jobs and I’d encourage local businesses to consider submitting a tender application for the main program of works.”
