Commemorative Flood Recovery Creative Workshops: Ballina Shire

Commemorative Flood Recovery Creative Workshops

As part of the ongoing flood recovery efforts across our region, the NSW Government has provided funding to Ballina Shire Council to support Commemorative Flood Recovery projects until June 2023. The Northern Rivers Community Gallery (NRCG) & Ignite Studios will use some of this funding to work with a range of creatives to deliver Creative Recovery workshops through May – June 2023. Artworks created as part of the workshop will have the opportunity to be exhibited at Ignite Studios in late June 2023. Workshops are free for any flood affected community members to participate and bookings are essential.

Workshop 1 Print, Paint & Play – Screen Printing | Jude White

Learn the basics of screen printing with artist Jude White. This workshop will explore themes of recovery, renewal, and resilience through screen printing and painting. Each participant will create their own tea towel and/or paper print using a range of techniques. Participants will also collaborate on a large fabric banner.

Saturday 3 June | 10am – 4pm | Ignite Studios, 60 Crane St, Ballina

Workshop 2 Finding Shelter – Artist Books | Michelle Walker

Participants will be guided through each stage of the process, from gaining inspiration through to a finished book that is both inspiring and personal.
