Emergency services are responding to a commercial building fire on Cochrane Street, Elgin, Gisborne.
The fire was reported around 7pm.
People are urged to avoid the area as emergency services work at the scene.
Traffic management is in place and residents are being evacuated from nearby homes as a precaution.
