The City of Whittlesea’s Community Development Grants are helping to create a foundation for a better future for students.
Future Foundations Limited, an organisation striving to increase resilience, self-esteem, confidence, communication techniques, and better understanding of emotions in children experiencing disadvantage were one of 17 recipients in round one of the 2019/20 Community Development Grants.
Their project is a 16-week creative art and personal mentoring program which includes a variety of weekend group activities including: excursions, artistic skills workshops and a final group art exhibition.
The students have recently been learning about photography.
City of Whittlesea Mayor, Cr Lawrie Cox said the biannual Community Development Grants program is intended to provide financial support to local initiatives that bring about positive impacts to residents.
“Round one of this year’s Community Development Grants Program saw over $74,000 distributed to 17 well deserving community groups and organisations,” said Cr Cox.
“The funding will go towards some exciting projects that will benefit our community.”
“I look forward to seeing these projects come to life and seeing the positive ripple effects across our communities.”
Applications for round two of 2019/20 program are now open. Eligible applicants can apply for up to $5000.
