The Crisafulli Government is making Queensland safer and delivering on a key election commitment, with a $250,000 investment in partnership with the City of Moreton Bay to improve community safety across the region.
New CCTV and licence plate recognition technology has been installed at the corner of Plantation Road and Old Gympie Road in Dakabin, providing enhanced monitoring capabilities and supporting efforts to identify and prevent criminal activity.
After years of Labor failing to take community safety seriously, the Crisafulli Government is delivering practical measures to restore safety where you live and give local communities greater confidence after a decade of decline under Labor.
This investment forms part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to delivering safer communities through targeted local infrastructure and crime prevention initiatives.
Minister for Local Government and Water Ann Leahy said the project demonstrated the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to making Queensland safer.
“Queenslanders voted for action on community safety, and this investment delivers exactly that by providing local authorities with additional tools to help deter crime and improve public safety,” Minister Leahy said.
“While Labor allowed community safety concerns to grow, the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job of delivering practical measures that help restore safety where you live.”
Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley said the new technology would strengthen community safety outcomes across the area.
“Local residents deserve to feel safe in their neighbourhoods, and these upgrades provide important additional tools to help deter crime and support community safety,” Ms Dooley said.
“This is a practical investment that delivers real benefits for local families and demonstrates the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to restoring safety where you live.”
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the completed project would deliver significant benefits for the local community.
“The additional CCTV and licence plate recognition technology will help make our community safer. We thank the State Government, and the Queensland Police Service, for their support in helping deter crime across City of Moreton Bay,” Mayor Flannery said.
“The delivery of this project is a testament to what can be achieved when local and state governments work together to deliver meaningful outcomes for our community.”
